John Wesley Children's Home

Welcome to JOHN WESLEY CHILDREN’S HOME, a Ministry of the Kempton Park Methodist Church.

We are a home away from home for teenager girls who have been neglected, abused or abandoned and deemed in need of care by the children’s court.

JOHN WESLEY CHILDREN’S HOME was established in November 1999, and in January 2004 was registered by the Department of Social Development
(NPO 031 – 473). Apart from the Kempton Park Methodist Church the JOHN WESLEY CHILDREN’S HOME is sustained by donations from private individuals, public enterprises and by a subsidy from the Department of Social Development.

Terms of reference for access to the home includes:

The girls attend local schools in Kempton Park. The JOHN WESLEY CHILDREN’S HOME acts as parental home that also assists the beneficiaries with comprehensive parental support that includes psychological, spiritual and physical development.

When the child turns 18 years of age, she is no longer protected by the children’s Act. If she is still in school she will be allowed to stay in the home until she finishes her schooling if she so chooses to do so.

Should she wish to study further after finishing Grade 12 we will help her to further tertiary study or to obtain sustainable employment. Several of our girls were successful with further university education.
